GCN founding member the Institute for Public Policy Research, which also hosts the Network's secretariat, has been named the UK's Green Think Tank of the Year, in part because of its involvement in the global alliance.
Judges, including Rohan Silva, senior adviser to George Osborne, the Conservative Party's shadow to Chancellor of the Exchequer, Baroness Falkner and David Walker, the managing director of the UK's audit commission, gave special mention in their citation to the GCN, calling the initiative 'ground-breaking' and 'unique'. The ippr beat off stiff competition from nominees including Chatham House and Green Alliance to claim what was a new addition to the UK's annual think tank awards hosted and promoted by the political magazine Prospect.
